Washington State Department of Agriculture launched the Washington State Hemp Program, WSDA Hemp Program Guide (PDF). The rules will be effective January 1, 2020 the department has authority to regulate licensees, process license applications or conduct hemp inspections. Licenses will expire on the last day of April following the year the license is issued. The 2022 Hemp Program Washington State will be accepting applications in the winter of 2021. Their application period is closed at this time, but will reopen in late January of 2022 through the end of March, as they are moving to an online application system.
